Having met on arrival you will be driven towards your hotel in the West Coast. Rest at the hotel.
Having enjoyed a fresh breakfast at the hotel, you could head out towards the beautiful colonial city of Galle for a day excursion and enjoy a guided city tour.
In Galle you could indulge in local luxury, through a morning of shopping at Barefoot, situated down the Corner of Church and Peddler Street, a southern outpost of the stylish Colombo homeware shop, Orchid House -near Dutch Hospital, selling handicraft, sarongs, and gems and Stick No Bills that offers a variety of printed designs on postcards or wallpapers.
After a nice stroll along the streets of the Galle Fort you could stop for lunch at Fortaleza that serves a contemporary and Western in style menu but has a distinct Asian accent at the same time. Its heart is situated at the sunken-in courtyard Restaurant and Bar at No. 9 Church Cross Street. (Lunch at own cost)
Having taken in the mesmerising features of the ancient city you could then continue with your drive back to Bentota while stopping over in Kosgoda to visit a turtle hatchery en route and contribute towards a local turtle conservation project.
Having spent some time at a hatchery and spending time with the rescued turtles you could continue your drive towards Bentota and enjoy a scrumptious dinner back at the hotel.
After having breakfast at the hotel, you could then head towards the beautiful town of Balapitiya to visit the picturesque Madu River.
Here you will embark on a scenic cruise along the Madu River, passing dozens of islets forested with lush mangroves. There you could view the 200-year-old Kothduwa Buddhist Temple and watch the locals cultivating the famously known rich cinnamon on Cinnamon Island.
Once done with the safari, you could then drive towards the famous town of Lunuganga where you will have the opportunity to travel and explore Bawa’s lifelong project – the Lunuganga Gardens as well.
Visit the unique Lunuganga Country Estate. Bawa devoted 40 years of his life, transforming this rubber and cinnamon estate into his country residence. Here you can wander around the centre of his world, exploring jungle foliage, ponds, pavilions, towering trees, sculptures and lake view framed by frangipani.
Having enjoyed a day full of activities, you can head back to the coastal line of Bentota and enjoy a lavish dinner at your hotel later in the night.
During these days, you will have time at your leisure to relax and unwind by the beach.
If you are an adventurer at heart you can step out to the town and explore the coastal line with the many fun water sports and activities the exciting Bentota has to offer.
Morning at leisure in Galle. Take some time to explore the city’s modern boutiques and visit its inviting cafes and restaurants. Later, you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to Colombo’s international airport for your departing flight.
